Salmon Tank Project in Danelle’s Room

images-1Our school is participating in the Salmon Tank Project this year.  This is made possible through an outreach and education grant for STEM and in conjunction with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.  The purpose of the program is to teach students about conservation, restoration, and sustainability of healthy Pacific salmon populations.

My 4th hour Life Science (7-8) will be studying the salmon life cycle and releasing the frye (hopefully) in the spring.  Our tank was set up in my classroom with the help of Mike, Philip, my husband, Mike, and one of our students, Jin.  Many thanks to those who helped make the tank possible.

You are all welcome to come by and view the salmon eggs; they should hatch sometime after winter break.
