ESports Registration on Now!

Steller high school students, it has been announced that Esports for the spring is on!

There are two games that will be supported: Madden 21 and FIFA 21. Are you a player of either? Do you want to learn? Games will be played on PS4’s which the district has purchased for our school. I do not know all the details yet, but if you are interested, please send me an email.

Our team needs to register by Tuesday, January 19 (there is a later registration deadline as well) to get in on all the action, and I need to make sure we have enough players. Please send an email to collins_jason@asdk12.org if interested. I will also hold a zoom meeting to go over any questions and what I know on Tuesday at 1:45pm. Here is the link: Talk soon!

Voting for Senior Superlatives!

This year’s Yearbook will include a page for Senior Superlatives and Steller students grade 9 to 12 are invited to vote!

Please vote for who you think is “Most Likely to Kickstart a Multimillion-Dollar Company” or “Most likely to survive the Hunger Games” and more!

Steller high schoolers are welcome to participate. All the superlatives are optional in case you can’t think of someone for that category. Even if you only know one senior that could be “Best Gamer,” you should cast your vote!

The final results will end up in this year’s yearbook. Click this link to access the form: https://forms.gle/Qce43oEM7UTg29oY6

Thank you so much!

Wanted: Yearbook Photos!

Hello steller families!

As finals week is coming close to an end so is the upcoming deadlines for Yearbook.

We are close to the 45% mark for portraits turned in! We would love to have 100% participation if possible from the Steller community. This means in the next 4 days we need 55% of the portraits turned in to reach our goals. Currently yearbook needs 170 portraits.  At the bottom of an email a guideline has been given to help take the portrait photos at home.

Yearbook is also in dire need of out-of-school activities photos, homemade mask photos, siblings, best friends (with stuffed animals), and transportation photos.

Please submit your photos before December 20th!

 If you have any questions about submissions please let us know.

The price of yearbooks will be going up soon as well, make sure to get those ordered here.

The price will go up January 1st to $50 a book.

After the break, we will be looking for student art photos, home study area photos,  and many more. If you already have photos that fit these categories feel free to send them in early!

We wish all Steller community members a healthy and happy winter break.

Yearbook committee

A note from SPG : The yearbook committee consists of a handful of staff and students  (who are volunteering their time).  Many ASD schools aren’t going to have a yearbook at all, so we at Steller are so lucky that people have stepped up to do this for us!  The volunteers still have many steps to do to properly record each photo into the yearbook software after they receive them. So waiting until the last minute means more work for them during the holidays. Let’s help them out!

Please email your photos to yearbookstellersecondary@gmail.com or opgsml@gmail.com with your name, grade, advisory and theme your photo is for.

Winner of Free Yearbook!

Hey Steller, just a reminder that Yearbook still needs photo submissions!

Congratulations to Ravyn C. in 9th grade for submitting a portrait by December 9th.  You won the draw, and will receive a FREE YEARBOOK. Contact yearbookstellersecondary@gmail.com to make sure you receive your book.

We have about 1/3rd of the staff and student portraits needed for this year’s yearbook. Please submit ASAP to yearbookstellersecondary@gmail.com

Yearbook also still needs
* Portraits!¡!
* Sibling photos
* Out of school activities
* Best friends with your favorite stuffed animal friends
* Transportation photos

Yearbook greatly appreciates all the hard work that Steller’s community has already put into the yearbook, but please help us make it complete by including every student possible.

Thanks, Alana P Yearbook Director

#StellerGives: Carly F

My name is Carly F, I’m a senior, and I have volunteered in Mrs. Caldarera’s kindergarten classroom for the last 8 years. I have gone in almost every school day for 1-2 hours a day and this has resulted in over 900 volunteer hours in the classroom! I absolutely love volunteering there because I can see the direct impact I have on the children’s lives. It is very rewarding being able to see how I have helped over 140 children learn to read, write, and do math. Every year I learn more about the classroom so I am able to take more burdens off of Mrs. Caldarera which greatly benefits the class. I love playing with the kids and building a unique relationship with each of them. I know that a lot of the time as the kindergarteners grow older they no longer remember me, but I know they will remember the things I taught them and the fun things we did together.

I have done two separate passages in the kindergarten classroom. In the spring of my 9th-grade year, I did a passage based on providing upper-level kids with challenging math. I worked with 6 different kids and met with all of them in small groups twice a week. In the spring of my 11th-grade year, I did a passage helping the lower level kids get caught up with their reading and writing. I worked with 6 kids individually and met with them once a week. I worked with 3 children where English was not spoken at home, which was a learning experience for me. I even met with this one boy 3+ times a week because he needed extra help. Once I started working one-on-one with him there were many improvements in his behavior and his academics. From winter break to spring break, he went from knowing 13 letters and 12 sounds to knowing 22 letters and 20 sounds. I absolutely love volunteering with Mrs. Caldarera and I am grateful that I’ve been given this opportunity every year.

Carly F

Senior

You should be proud of what a difference you have made in the lives of all the children you work with Carly! Well done.
