Steller Virtual Dance & Costume Contest
Correction: Steller Parent Group is hosting the Virtual Halloween Dance (with student volunteers). OpGroup is running the Costume Contest.

This event will follow guidelines to reduce risk of COVID transmission. Only people from the *SAME HOUSEHOLD* can attend in a single zoom. This means don’t get together with your friends to join the zoom dance!

Steller Parent Group will be monitoring the event to ensure a safe and fun event for everyone.
Get out your ghoul and join Steller’s Costume Contest (sponsored by OpGroup).
Submit pictures of yourself in your best costume between October 26 and October 31. Email your photo to opgsml@gmail.com. Don’t forget to include your name, grade and costume title.
Photos will be posted on the Steller Instagram account @steller_s_official and voted on in advisory on the 4th of November. They will be used in yearbook as well.

Steller Instagram Account
Dear Steller Families, Students and Staff,
We are happy to announce the creation of the official Steller Instagram Account @steller_s_official. All students, staff and families are encouraged to follow!
This account was created with the goal of connecting the Steller Community, especially during this time of distance. You will find information and photos related to the Steller community and events. It will also serve as a way to collect pictures for the Yearbook until we are back in person.
The account is run through OpGroup in a newly created Cabinet Position of Social Media Liaison – currently Eli P. a senior.
Only students with a signed District Media Consent Form will be included in Instagram posts. If you are not sure of your permission status please check with the office. Parents/Guardians may also write directly to Reed to inform him if they don’t want their student’s image to be included in any Instagram posts.
You don’t need an Instagram Account to follow, and can see the feed at the Steller Parent Group Website.
To submit photos, announcements or questions please email opgsml@gmail.com. All submissions require first and last name and grade of everyone in the photo. Only first name and last initial will be used in the posts.

Steller Students are organizing a Talent Show and Activity Night!
Support this community building event and bring your whole family.

King Tech Spring Hiring Event Update
The King Tech Job Center has been recruiting businesses for the upcoming April 1 King Tech Spring Hiring Event. We are still nearly a month out, but we have already confirmed more than 50 businesses who are excited to recruit job-ready young men and women.

Steller Parent Group Meeting Tonight
Parent Group will be meeting early this month because of spring break. Please join us Tuesday March 3rd 6:00-7:30 in Ken’s room. This month’s agenda includes updates from students and staff, upcoming events, request for funding support for Spring Intensives and student proposals, and opportunities to volunteer with Steller Olympics (not to be missed!). Find out how you can help support the Steller community and keep up-to-date on upcoming events and news from staff and students. Travel to Peru in December!
Leigh Anne and Jason are excited to travel with students in December to Peru. Travel scholarship applications are due March 5th and can be picked up and turned into the office. More information can be found by stopping by to talk to Leigh Anne or emailing her at bonney_leigh@asdk12.org. Students who are hoping to join should make sure their passports are good through June 2021 and if not, apply for their passport now. Registration forms can be picked up from Leigh Anne.
Alaska Health Education Summit – March 28
UAA is holding a free health education summit on Saturday, March 28. They will have tours, mock interviews, activities and more for students interested in pursuing a health and/or pre-med program. If they are under 18 they must attend with an adult.
