Envirothon plant

Envirothon is a high-school environmental science competition held April 26 & 27, 2013. This year, the competition is in North Pole, Alaska with an option to visit Chena Hot Springs Resort. The mission of Alaska Envirothon is to introduce students to environmental careers, enhance students’ cooperative problem solving skills and promote stewardship of Alaska’s natural resources. The FFA hosts have offered a 4-H science team $1,000 to help cover travel costs! A bus will take students from Anchorage, Palmer, and other Southcentral communities up to the competition.

Hands-on environmental education programs and competition will focus on soils and land use, aquatic ecology, forestry and wildlife. Winning teams from each state advance to the North America Envirothon Competition in Bozeman, Montana for scholarships and prizes.

We are looking for highschoolers with:
-Love for the outdoors
– A desire to learn more about their natural environment (and awesome career paths associated with it)
– A willingness to help spend a $1000 grant with a team of like-minded students as you journey to North Pole on April 26 and 27
