Welcome Back Steller Community

Thursday, August 16, the Steller Parent Group will host the 2018 -19 Back to School BBQ and New to Steller Orientation (NSO).  This is a change of date due to the Anchorage Educational Association (AEA) meeting that was recently scheduled.  To support our teaching staff and the AEA, we have moved the BBQ and NSO to Thursday.

The BBQ will run from 5:00pm-7:00pm with the NSO starting at 6:30pm.  We hope to see you all there!

We also have two bicycles left from Troy’s intensive.  If they are not picked up, they will be locked up in a secure location over the summer.  Please don’t be without your bike for the summer and come and pick it up!

Steller Band Earns 2nd Place

Steller Band participated in the Aurora Music Festival in April at Grace Christian School. During the music festival, the band entered a large group adjudication and won 2nd Place. The selections are “March to Castle Rock” by Steve Hodges, 1st Movement from “Quartet” by J.S. Bach, arranged by Arthur Hull, and “Psalm” by William Himes.

“This is by far the best accomplishment for our band this year”, said Mr. Toba, the band director. “We worked extremely hard, and our effort paid off. While the other bands which entered the adjudication are high school bands, as far as I know of, we are the only band that has not only high school students but also 7th and 8th graders. I am super proud of our band students.” The band students and Mr. Toba would like to thank Reed Whitmore, the Steller principal, the Steller staff members, and the parents, for their wonderful support of the band program. The 2nd Place plaque will be displayed in the Steller office.
