End of Year letter from Reed

Graduation was a big success; Jean Poulsen was a wonderful guest speaker and it was fun to hear from the students on their big day.   The support of our community coming together to celebrate and socialize was wonderful. Thank you to all that were able to share in the celebration.  Parents, and graduates…. Congratulations!

Graduates, please remember to come get your diploma.  And remember to send in a pennant of your college or program if our office does not already have one hanging. (send one if you are not sure).

Summer is quickly approaching, End-Of-The-Year meetings are in full swing.  Advisors are sharing copies of our draft (perhaps final) class schedule.  The schedule will soon be posted.

The Steller Office will closed May 30th and reopen July 22nd.  I will be in and out of the building May 31th – June 12th and will be checking messages and my email.

Please save the date for the Fall, Back to School, Parent Group Bar B Que, August 15, 6pm.  Don’t miss it J

New to Steller students will be given an opportunity on August 13 or 14 to come to Steller with Jason and Becky for orientation with activities.

We had a fantastic year with amazing students and teachers.  We saw growth in responsible freedom, academic risk and a great deal of success.  The school was calm with vibrate energy.  Student behavior was positive and inviting. I was impressed with Passages projects, projects, art work, as well as the engagement observed in classes throughout the year.  Steller is a wonderful community.   Truly a Blue Ribbon Year!

I hope you all have a safe and exciting summer break.    Read something, and be active.

Schedule for the Last Week of School

Steller Parents and Students,
The 2018-19 school year is quickly coming to a close.  This has been another great year at Steller.

We would like to invite everyone to come to the Steller graduation, Monday, May 20, 2019, 3:00pm at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium, and wish our graduates well.
Students will be released at 11:30 on Monday so that we can attend the graduation.  Please have you students picked up no later than 12:00pm, as the building will be closed for the rest of the day.

Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21-22, students are only to be in the building during their student led conferences which are scheduled with their advisors.
Have a wonderfully productive last few days of school and  a great summer break!

Respectfully,

Janet L. Moffatt

Parent Group needs a Treasurer!

Dabble with numbers and looking for a way to volunteer next year? Steller Parent Group needs a treasurer starting Fall of 2019. This is an easy roll to fill and is very flexible with your schedule. All accounting is done with Quickbooks Online and is easy to access on whatever computer you have available. Except for checks and reports, the entire job is paperless. This role encourages regular attendance to the monthly meetings (2nd Tuesday of each month), generating financial reports, and printing checks. The role is also important during the yearly auction, where you will assist in setting up the payment system. Previous experience is not required but may be helpful to understand lite accounting as well as understand quickbooks. Help is available now and through the summer, so you won’t be left in the dark. Got a question or possibly interested? The Parent Group really needs you. Reach out to the current treasurer Kevin Hedin kevin@kevinhedin.com

Appreciation

Thank you to parents, students, and front office staff for making our day special on Wednesday.  We enjoyed the treats for breakfast and the Bear Tooth tacos.  All the goodies were appreciated by our staff who met in the staff lounge to celebrate another great year at Steller.

Next Year’s Barcelona and Paris Travel Intensive Informational Parent Meeting: Tuesday May 7th at 6PM

Parents: Please come find out about the Barcelona and Paris trip that will be happening during May’s Intensive. This is an eleven day trip focused on the art and culture of these two amazing cities. Students will be visiting museums and landmark sites, like the Eiffel Tower. The Intensive is being designed to allow students to participate in the culture, rather than just observe it. Students will take a French cooking class; create art using a form of choice (photography, drawing, painting, writing, etc.); and observe life in each city. Attached is the current flyer for the trip. It is being updated to show that the Versailles and Figueres day trips are included in the price, rather than showing up as optional. This will not change the price of the trip. Registration for the trip is open now, but there is lots of time to make the decision to attend.
Please come on Tuesday to get your questions answered. If you can not make the meeting, send your questions to Troy at fast_troy@asdk12.org or Leigh Anne at bonney_leigh@asdk12.org. Students of all grades are able to join.
