Last 11th grade class update before the trip!

update11th grade class trip update: We have plenty of tents, plenty of food and plenty of fun planned but we are at EXACTLY enough drivers and chaperones so…

Please go to the 11th grade web page (here) and make sure:

* you have, or will have all the appropriate forms and fees turned in by Monday morning.
* look at the itinerary–notice that your 11th grader should bring a favorite snack and a board game or card game to share with each other under the pavilion on Monday evening.
* look at the packing list. make sure you have everything. Adjustments may be made if your 11th grader does not intend to hike but the gold panning may or may not happen in the rain and cold. Choose wisely.
* look at the menu. If your 11th grader can not eat any of the food list, please send alternative items–we can adjust your fees accordingly.
* look at the volunteer list. these are the people I am counting on. If your name is there and you can’t actually do that job, text–don’t email–me at 907-360-9850 ASAP.
* look at the carpool list–same instructions as for the volunteer list.
* look at the map and directions page. Make sure you know where you are going and where we will be. If you have any concerns, text me at 907-360-9850

Thanks so much to everyone that helped plan, organize, and make this event happen you are the greatest!!!

And to everyone that couldn’t this time…You’ll have more opportunities in the future. Senior trip planning will start soon! And its a doozy!!

8th Grade Class hike Tues Aug 23 – DRIVERS NEEDED

imgresThe 8th grade class is hoping to hike on the second day of school, Tuesday August 23rd, but we need more drivers to make this happen. We will be leaving school at 8:30, hiking along the Powerline Pass trail from Glen Alps, and returning to Steller at 12:30. If you can drive, please email Leigh Anne at bonney_leigh@asdk12.org with the number of students you can carry. You are welcome to hike with us or can just drive students there and pick them up at 12:00 from the parking lot. All 8th graders need to fill out a permission slip and bring it to school on Monday. On Tuesday students need to be dressed appropriate to hike and bring the following:

  • Lunch and a snack

  • Water

  • Small backpack

  • Rain coat

  • Hiking/running shoes

If you have any questions, please email Leigh Anne at bonney_leigh@asdk12.org.

Steller Band

musical_noteJoin us for fun with playing band instruments. Steller Band is always looking for students who have at least one year of playing experience in band (i.e. 6th grade beginning band). For 7th and 8th graders, we will expect you to play the instruments you played last year; for 9th graders through 12th graders, you will have an opportunity to try new band instruments. No instrument? We will work with you!

Contact Mr. Toba at toba_nobuo@asdk12.org<mailto:toba_nobuo@asdk12.org>.

Steller Band DOES qualify you to enter the All-State band and state solo/ensemble festivals if you are in 9th grade and up, and the Junior Youth Symphony Band and Orchestra and the middle school solo/ensemble festival for 7th and 8th graders. Our first meet will be Thursday (8/25) in the 2nd portable (“Svetlana’s Relo”). We hope to see you then!

REMINDER: Annual Back-to-School BBQ Thurs 8/18 6:00 pm

images-2One LAST reminder about tonight’s Annual Back-to-School BBQ at 6:00pm. We planned this as a picnic-style event so remember to bring your camp chairs or picnic blanket as we’ll be in the back field for the evening. If it turns out to be sprinkling a bit and you have a party tent you can bring PLEASE do so. If it is raining like crazy we’ll move the event indoors. Regardless of the weather, this is always a fun way to welcome everyone back to Steller.

Please take this survey

Hello Steller Parents,

We are going through the accreditation process with Advanc-Ed and your feedback in an essential component to this process. We value your input and ask you to take the time to complete this survey. The responses to this survey will be reviewed both internally by administration and staff and externally by an Advanc-Ed review team this year. Accreditation is important for all students by instituting reflection on practices and procedures, and assuring community voice and review of our program.

Responses are anonymous; thank you for your time and attention.
