Youth-led community conversation – Dec. 6

On Wed., Dec. 6 at 7 pm, Alaska Public Media and Out North Contemporary Art House are co-hosting a community conversation facilitated by and featuring young people. It will focus on what young people think needs to happen to build strong, trusting, supportive communities.  Although there will be a panel of guests, it’s a community conversation and the aim is to have most of the input and content come from the audience sharing experiences and asking questions. Attached is a FLYER. Here’s a LINK with more information.

King Career Center Informational Night Tuesday Nov 7

Dear ASD sophomores, juniors, and their parents:

On Tuesday, November 7, we are holding our first informational night about KCC’s transition to a full time school beginning in the 2018-19 school year, and you are invited!

This is a great chance to hear about and visit a school that provides excellent career and college preparation in 26 different programs.  After the presentation, you will have a better understanding of why KCC might be perfect for the last two years of high school.

Come find out how students are professionally trained, connected directly with industry, and how they gain a competitive advantage in their adventures after high school. We hope to see you here at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Thank you.

Auction Reminder & Volunteers Needed

Going once, going twice, SOLD! Please join us for the annual Steller Parent Group Auction this Saturday, November 4, and be ready for the fun!

If you haven’t already donated items for the auction please consider this awesome opportunity to get rid of stuff that might be cluttering up your space but could be worth something to someone else 🙂

Since this is the only fundraising activity on the calendar for Steller at the moment this is a really important event. Steller parent group is the primary source of funding for classroom needs, travel intensive‘s, community events, and lots of other school funding requirements.

We also need volunteers to help make this a great Auction. Please consider signing up for an hour or two on Saturday as a helper! Please contact Judith Davis (jlevans99516@gmail.com).

AUCTION REMINDER TO STUDENTS – ADVISORY COMPETITION

The Steller Parent Group Auction is this Saturday, November 4th.
Parent Group previously shared information about the need to increase student donations by way of services to the auction. The student donation form is in the office and needs to be filled out and turned in to Janet or Haley by November 1.
Parent group is strongly encouraging students to work together to generate teams within their advisory group to donate services. Please be sure there is parent approval and/or support for your donation. We are also upping the ante to a requirement that an advisory MUST have at least six donations in order to win the prize. Please contact Karen Gillis with any questions (email karenlgillis@me.com or text/call 907-887-1148).
