Donate to the Alumni Capital Project Now!

In honor of Steller’s 50th Anniversary, Steller Alumni are raising funds for the hard working, student-run Steller kitchen. The current estimate to purchase the needed appliances (like refrigerator, oven, espresso machine) is $20K. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated! * Donations in excess will revert to SPG to support initiatives for Steller students. Thank you for your support!

Back to School BBQ Register & Volunteer Now!

The annual Back to School BBQ is a great Steller tradition! 

Steller Parent Group and Steller Staff are happy to invite all Steller Students, Families and Staff to the Great Steller BBQ of 2024 on Tuesday, August 13 6:00 to 8:00pm 

This is a great opportunity for everyone to come together as a community, meet new friends, and catch up with old friends.  SPG will provide burgers & hot dogs (with veggie and gluten free options) and drinks.

Families with last name A-K are invited to bring a side dish to share, and families with L to Z are invited to bring a dessert. Allergy friendly foods are especially welcome and clearly identified.  (Please label any dishes you want returned and remember to pick up at the end of the night.)

Steller Parent Group wants to make sure that we are reaching as many members of our community with up to date and relevant information as possible. We have four ways we communicate with you:

  1. Website/Steller Flash updates will appear on the SPG website. Students, staff, and parents/guardians can SUBSCRIBE to receive updates directly in your inbox. All requests for volunteers will be posted on the website/sent out through Flash, so it is important for families to subscribe!
  2. Steller Secondary Parent Group is a closed Facebook Group created to promote communication between current parents/guardians, teachers, and staff for organizing school activities, announcements, questions, and keeping up with everything that is going on. Please consider sharing your experiences in the workplace with current Steller students  Celebrate Steller Open House, on Friday September 13th, 2-5pm.  

 To participate . . .

 

First – Fill out Business/Career Survey We will e-mail you in July/August to register with Anchorage School District as a volunteer for next school year. 

Then, on Friday, September 13th simply come to the Career Connections classroom to meet students and share about what you do and how you got there with students.

Can’t make it to the Anniversary? – we still want to hear from you on the survey. We’re using the 50th Anniversary to learn about Steller Alumni in order to create possible mentorships along with more connections within our wider community.

FYI – We will email a volunteer sign up form to you to be completed no later than 3 weeks before the Anniversary in order to participate in the Career Connections Room.  The volunteer form gives ASD a chance track the number of volunteers helping our students districtwide and to conduct a background check for adults who want to interact with ASD students.

Fundraising committee summer meeting

Fun

Join us for our summer Fundraising Committee meeting on Monday July 22nd, 5:30-7pm at Monica’s home or by Zoom.

Goals are to get to know members of the committee, review fundraising events and dates for this coming school year, to discuss possible additional events, and lead volunteers for events. 

Anyone interested in joining the board or any of our committees, or who just wants to meet some people and learn a bit more about Steller Parent Group is welcome to attend.
