Addams Family Values Community Event!

You are Invited to the Steller Parent Group Community Event!

April 23rd, 1pm @ Bear Tooth Theatrepub

Tickets for sale starting March 21st.

In addition to being a great opportunity for Steller Families to get together, Steller Parent Group gets a percentage of the box office revenue and we use that money to fund great community events like the Start of the Year BBQ, student intensives, school equipment and more! The theatre has a 400 people capacity and we want to fill the place up, so

  • invite your friends
  • invite your family
  • invite your family’s friends
  • and your friend’s families!

Would you participate in a Silent Auction?

Dear Steller Students, Parents and Guardians,

Steller Parent Group is planning a fun community event on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Bear Tooth Theatrepub. All members of the Steller Community are invited to attend the matinee showing of Addams Family Values. SPG will receive a portion of the ticket sales.

The Fundraising Committee is also considering hosting a small online auction of maybe 5-8 big ticket items and/or Advisory Baskets. This would be open to both members of our community, and the general public.

We would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete our survey, to indicate your interest in donating a big ticket item, or donating for an Advisory Basket.

Big ticket items would be a minimum value of about $400. We are thinking of things like cabin stays and other tourism related activities, custom artwork, and more. Another popular idea would be to share a special skill – for example if you are a great cook you could offer to cook a dinner party for the first 8 people that bid the minimum (your house or theirs), or perhaps a cookie decorating party or similar. Think opportunities to get to know each other and build community. We’d be thrilled to work with you to work out details if you have a starting idea.

Advisory Baskets usually involve choosing a theme and collecting the items. We would need one student volunteer per advisory to put the basket together.

This information will help us decide if this is something our community wants to do, and helps us plan how best to spend our time as volunteers.

And, as always, if you would like to help, we’d love to have you!

New Steller Directory!

The Steller Parent Group (SPG) has in past years hosted a directory through a hosting service that required an annual cost to the SPG. This year we are trying to gather the information voluntarily through a simple Google questionnaire. The result will be a list or spreadsheet with basic contact information for individuals who agree to participate. We will need to update each school year.

We would like to invite you to opt in to the Steller Directory by answering with as much information as you are comfortable sharing with the rest of the school’s parents.

This should take less than five minutes to complete.

Students, staff, and parents/guardians are welcome to join our directory.

If you would like to join use this link.

Steller is the Place to Be!

We all know Steller is a great place to learn – help us get the word out! Encourage your friends and neighbours to come to our Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, February 15, from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

It would be great if you could download our poster and pamphlet below and share on social media, or where ever there are kids and parents.

If you have a connection to an elementary school in Anchorage and would be willing to reach out to their administration or PTA let us know. Having a personal recommendation is such a powerful testament.

Blind Date with a Book at Steller Library!

Blind date with a book! The Steller library has combined the thrill of a new book with the excitement and surprise of having a book chosen for you. Come pick up a wrapped book, who knows maybe you’ve been reading about the Italian Renaissance when it’s really robots fighting with cats in a dystopian future that you’ll fall for.  Maybe it’s a mystery or a graphic novel? Hard to say! Come check out one of the Blind Date wrapped books at the Steller library this month.  Each blind date book you check out comes with M&Ms because Valentines is really all about the chocolate, right?

Volunteers for Valentine’s Dance and Prom!!

Steller dances are one of my favorite volunteer opportunities! It’s a great way to get an inside peek at the Steller Way in action.

Steller’s 9th grade class will be hosting a Valentine’s Dance on Friday, February 10th from 7-11pm at the Steller MPR. The dance is open to all Steller students. We are in need of 4 volunteers for the dance from 6:45pm-11:15pm. For questions contact Ashley.

Steller Prom Committee is also looking for some volunteer help! For questions contact Allison.

Check out the Sign Up Genius here.

(Don’t forget – ASD requires all volunteers to complete the ASD Volunteer Application before they can volunteer, and it takes about a week. See here for more information

Cheers,

Kirsten
