The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education has updated information on the Alaska Performance Scholarship at aps.alaska.gov:

The Governor’s Operating Budget passed by the Alaska Legislature includes $6 million for APS awards in the 2011/2012 program year. In the event this amount is insufficient to fully fund all eligible APS recipients, ACPE will award funds on a pro rata basis to each eligible student. ACPE will notify APS recipients of their awards in mid to late August once institutions have completed enrollment certification. Award amounts will be posted to each recipient’s record on the Alaska Student Aid Portal (coming soon).

For future years, Governor Parnell has introduced legislation creating a long-term fund from which annual appropriations would be made to fund APS. The Legislature has set aside funds for this structure and is expected to finalize consideration of this proposal in the upcoming 2012 session.
