A reminder for 9th grade parents to volunteer to help out with the Auction.  They should be receiving emails from steller.auction@gmail.com.  Please respond to these emails!  If they aren’t receiving emails, email the auction committee to add their email to the list.
Ribbons and pencils are being distributed today for Red RibbonWeek. Please try to remember to wear the ribbon all week as your pledge to not get involved in drugs. This pledge includes abstinence from illegal drugs as well as alcohol and tobacco products – at least until you are no longer a minor and are able to make a more mature choice. I want you to reflect on all the great muscians and actors who have died as a result of their involvement in drugs and the loss we have all felt as a result.
In another effort to keep Steller students safe, I have volunteers coming at lunchtime today to help me put reflectors on your backpack, the backpack straps, boots, shoes or jackets. Please take advantage of this opportunity. When it is dark reflectors can be seen on clothing up to 500 feet. A person who is wearing white can only be seen at 200 feet.
Just a reminder that auction baskets or donations are due on November 8 if your advisory group wants their submission to be considered for the prize.  The prize will be a cocoa and donut party served to the winning advisory group by the 9th graders.  Keep encouraging your students to bring in their donation items and to come to the auction.
I put down the wrong date for the Auction entertainer audition. Â It is this Thursday, the 20th.
There will be a meeting for prospective West High Ski team skiers during lunch on Monday the 24th(today). Meeting will be run by Mark Larsen.
The Kids These Days! WYAK essay contest has been extended for one more week! Tell us what it means to you to be a “kid these days!” in 500 words or less. In addition to having their work featured on the air, winners will also receive a Kids These Days! canvas tote bag! Turn in entries by Friday, Oct 28. at wyakcontests.com
Boys & Girls Clubs are the beneficiary this year for the proceeds from Trick or Treat town. Â The sheer number of volunteers needed is staggering and we need your help. Â Do you have any ability to share this message with individual or groups that might be willing to commit to volunteering at one or two sessions?
We need teens and adults – willing to dress up in costumes (that wont be scary for the little ones) to sit at “doors” and hand out candy to little ghosts and goblins. Â The “doors” will be inside at the Alaska Communications garage (600 Telephone Street) so you will be warm and dry, helping Boys & Girls Clubs, and making little folks happy.
