AG Announcements – 10/21/13

There is an 8th grade class meeting on Tuesday at noon in Marla’s room.

Reminder: Students…the last day to sign for guests to the Halloween Dance is Tuesday, October 22nd at 3pm. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Peer-taught proposals for second semester should be presented to staff next Monday, October 28th.

The Steller auction is only one month away and we need the support of the Advisory groups in the form of some sort of cool and interesting donation.  You may choose to do a basket as many groups have traditionally done, or you may choose to branch out and come up with some other item or service that could earn money for the auction. Some ideas:  create a piece of art together, creatively paint and decorate an old piece of furniture which one of your families might be able to donate or get something from a thrift store, Troy’s group made bird houses and painted them one year, auction off the advisory group for a specific job such as spring clean yard clean up. Another idea (this one is kind of complicated):  ask for a monetary sponsorship (auction yourselves off) to go as a group to a charity or organization of your choice and volunteer.  This way the school makes money, the students have a service opportunity, the organization benefits, and the person who buys it can write it off on their taxes.  Win, win, win, win!  Victoria Weindel can help organize.  Ask the juniors in your group for more information.

The Nicaragua Travel Intensive will meet this Wednesday in the Art Room at noon. All intensive participants are expected to be there.

Students involved in helping to organize the 40th anniversary of Steller, please see Ashley this week or email her your progress.

There will be a representative from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Honors Program on campus this Wednesday to speak to any students or parents about their program: what does it mean to be a UAA Honors student and what do you need to be doing now if you would like to be one.

Soccer meeting this Wednesday at lunch for all interested.
