Advisory Group Announcements – 11 April 2011

We hope everyone had a great time during Steller’s Olympics.  Thanks for competing, cheering, and bringing food.  To help us plan for next year, please give your advisor any feedback about the switch to Advisory teams and a “winter” Olympics.

In your AG mailbox you will find permission slips for the Steller Activity Day, May 19th.  You MUST turn in your permission slip to your advisor no later than May 2nd. If you do not return your permission slip you will not be able to attend, you will remain at school.  Seniors if you would like to attend you must turn in a permission slip and ride the bus.  There will be an option to ride your bike from Steller to Lynn Ary Park.  You must let us know in advance if you plan on doing so.  Talk to Natalie or Jen if you have any questions.

There will be a meeting tomorrow during lunch at 12:00 in Gerald’s room for the Outdoorsman/woman intensive being offered by Troy. Please come and help plan the itinerary. It will be finalized by Friday this week so this is your one chance to give some input.

We will be having a sophomore class meeting Tuesday at noon to discuss the senior breakfast.

Wednesday is Japan day, and one of the goals is to make 1,000 oragami cranes for peace and hope.  Help make cranes before school, during lunch, and after school.
We need volunteers to help teach people to make cranes during these times. Also, we will need volunteers to help string the cranes together at the end of the day.  See Alayne if you are interested.

Japan Day is on Wednesday.  It’s a day we can learn more about Japan, and also remember the people who are affected by the recent earthquakes and Tsunami.  Read about Japan, or read an anime graphic novel.

Come to the library and see a display of items collected by Karen and her family on a recent trip to Japan as well as to write letters of comfort and encouragement to the children/teens in the earthquake area.  You can write a letter or draw something for them to let them know you care and are thinking about them, or praying for them.  The letter writing campaign was started by a student at Bear Valley elementary.

We will be having a Greece Meeting on Wednesday to discuss itinerary as well as payment options. Please be there if you want to travel next year. We are in need of a head count so that we can start booking our trip!

Sophomores….Sophomore Day permission slips are due by the end of the day tomorrow.  If you have not turned yours in yet, please pick one up (orange slip on wall between office and white board).

Sign your prom guests up now. The sign up book will be available in the office from today until April 26th at noon.

Please save your pizza boxes and bring them to Alayne.  They are needed for an art project.  Throw out the pizza first, please.

Seniors:  important Activity Night meeting Tuesday at lunch in Nina’s room.

Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation and the UAF Bristol Bay Campus are expanding its popular high school salmon science program (or Salmon Camp) to students beyond Bristol Bay.  Application available from your Advisor.
