Staff Corner

May is a busy month for the staff as we work on wrapping up this school year while looking forward to the next.  We have concluded our interviews with incoming students and are currently doing end-of-year conferences, which provide a good time for both reflection and goal-setting.

Next school year will begin with a 3-day Orientation before regular classes start.  Orientation offers a chance to familiarize new-to-Steller students with the philosophy and unique aspects of the program and allows time to re-establish the strong sense of community that our school so highly values. We have time built in for advisory groups and for grade-level classes to meet.  We are excited to see several opportunities for students to take the self-directed learning course, Passages. Passages will be equired for every student, beginning with next year’s 9th graders, but high school students, especially juniors and seniors, should consider completing a Passage.

The staff would like to thank the Steller community for another great school year.  It takes all members of our community to make our school run, and we greatly appreciate the students and parents who have put forth extra time and effort in the numerous extracurricular events throughout the year.  We wish everyone a safe, fun summer and look forward to seeing you all in August.
