Close Up 2012

Steller high school students interested in getting a behind-the-scenes look at Washington DC, how our government really works, and receiving a quarter of government credit at the same time, should consider joining Ken on a Close Up visit to DC this November.  Close Up is the premier organization offering educational travel to DC for students and teachers alike.  The trip will also include an overnight visit to Colonial Williamsburg and will run from Friday, November 9 to Saturday, November 17.  This weeklong trip will include visits with our Alaska congressional delegation, trips to Capitol Hill and the White House, and other high points of interest in DC.  For more detailed information, visit www.closeup.org and click on the link for High School.  There you will find information tailored for students and parents, including details about the trip and what students can expect.  The total cost for the trip will be just over $1900.  This price includes airfare, tuition, food and lodging, and an extra day of hotel lodging because of our early departure to overcome jet lag and be rested for the start of activities on Sunday afternoon.  The trip is a week long, but is packed with learning opportunities.  As you have probably noticed, the dates for the trip are outside of our scheduled intensives.  This is because the trip is authorized by ASD and we will be traveling with students from other ASD high schools.
