UAF Information

February is the start of one of our busiest seasons here in admissions as the applications start rolling in and we start encouraging students to complete the FAFSA, apply for scholarships, and visit campus.  Hopefully the information in this e-mail will provide you with a few additional tools to share with your students to complete each of those tasks!
Also, our talented Admissions Counselors will be hitting the road this spring and may be contacting you to schedule a visit with your students. If you don’t hear from us, give us a call and let us know you want a visit.

*Visit <http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/visit>! We encourage all students to visit campus for a personalized campus visit, a campus preview day, or just a tour.

*Daily tours: Our student ambassadors offer daily campus tours<http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/events/>beginning at 10 am in the Signers’ Hall lobby. No advance notification is  equired.

*Personalized campus visit:*  Students schedule a personalized campus visit by completing our online campus visit form. <http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/visit>  The visit includes a campus tour, meetings with financial aid, academic departments, current students, and admissions. Students can sit in on classes.
*Discover UAF: Inside Out preview day:  An open house for high school juniors and seniors to experience mock classes, campus tours, Q&A workshops with current

students and administrators…parents welcome.
*Friday, March 25th – Virtual Visits and Events: We know that it’s not always possible make it to campus, but we can bring a little of the campus to any computer.
*Live Chat: Students can chat with us live by visiting our website: http://www.uaf.edu/admissions. We have representatives to chat live and answer  questions.

*Video Chat: Students can schedule a video chat using Skype or Google Chat. Student can e-mail admissions@uaf.edu for details.
*CollegeWeekLive: *CollegeWeekLive is the world’s largest online college fair. Throughout the year CWL hosts college search events http://www.collegeweeklive.com/en_CA/guest/college_events>.  Students can participate in events by logging in from any computer.  To log into CollegeWeekLive simply log-in to: http://bit.ly/uafcwl.

*March 23 – 24 is the CWL Spring College Fair: <http://bit.ly/uafcwl> Chat live with admissions counselor and current students.

*Take our Money!  <http://www.uaf.edu/finaid>*
*February is FAFSA Frenzy:* The University hosts a month long FAFSA Frenzy to encourage students to complete the  FAFSA in the month of February!

*UA Scholarship Deadline <http://www.uaf.edu/finaid>*  is Feb. 15:  This is a rock solid deadline. Students cannot apply after this date!

*Apply for Admission <http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/apply/>* While the official admission deadline is not until June 15th, students must apply for admission

prior to submitting an application for scholarships.  Students may contact any of our admissions counselors<http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/info/>for assistance or chat live with a representative from our office if they need assistance of have

questions about applying.

*Admissions standards:

GPA: 2.5 – Test Score: 18 – ACT Plus Writing , or 1290 – SAT OR    GPA 3.0 -Test Score: Any

*UAF is an open enrollment institution, students who do not meet the above criteria will be admitted as pre-majors <http://www.uaf.edu/catalog/current/admissions/baccalaureate.html> into the major of their choice.
