II.     Approval of Agenda

III.     Treasurer’s Report

-     $2290.83

IV.     Old Business

a.     Model UN Funds Request

Passed 10/1/2

b.     Mural- Anna and Julie

Passed 8/1/4

V.     New Business

a.     Paper Use

Whereas paper comes from trees, which are a finite and precious resource,

Whereas the distribution of Op Group notes to each advisory group, and several staff members uses huge amounts of paper over the course of a year,

Whereas this practice is harmful to the earth,

Let it be resolved that, from this point forward, all notes from Op Group meetings will be distributed to advisory groups electronically via the Steller Flash and/or the advisory group announcements which can be accessed online. Any individuals, be they students, staff, or parents, who wish to access the notes further can either print them from the Flash or contact the secretary and have them delivered via email.

Let it also be resolved that all proposals brought to Op Group will not be provided to every attendee. All proposals must be emailed to the secretary for inclusions in the notes. (Email all proposals to olivia.brikell@gmail.com)

-     Passed with no opposition

b.     Card Club

Whereas boredom is a common part of a high school student’s week,

Whereas card games are mentally stimulating,

Whereas high school free time is mostly about socializing,

Whereas the act of strategizing against other players helps students to get to know one another,

Whereas card games are a safe way for students to interact,

Let it be resolved that ‘The Card Club’ be created. The Card Club will be open to all Steller students and will meet on Fridays in Natalie’s room. Members will learn card strategies, new games and have the opportunity to regularly play cards.

-     Passed with no opposition

c.     Leigh Anne’s advisory group- Spaghetti feed

Whereas Leigh Anne’s advisory group has not had any group activities,

Whereas Steller is all about helping out in the community,

Whereas Adopt a Dog Alaska saved hundreds of dogs from kill shelters,

Whereas some of the dogs they receive need surgery (spaying/neutering etc.), but they lack the necessary funding,

Let it be resolved that Leigh Anne’s advisory group host a spaghetti feed at the All Community Meeting on March 3rd. Plates will be $5. We are asking Op Group for $50 for plates and silverware. All unused funds will be returned to Op Group.

-     Passed with no opposition

d.     Mural- Chelsey

Whereas Murals are a huge part of the Steller community,

Whereas change is good,

Whereas we want to make a good impression on people who walk into our school,

Let it be resolved that Chelsey be allowed to paint a mural in the hallway leading out to the parking lot. She will be painting over the four-season mural right before the window looking into Svetlana’s office. The current mural is not in the mural book, and is not signed or dated by the creator, therefore making it incomplete. Her mural is an updated, more colorful version of the original. The mural will take up the whole wall enclosed between the two pillars.

-     Sent back to advisory groups for a vote.
