WHEN: FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2009; 8:30 AM to 2:05 PM
WHERE: BP Energy Center

WHY: Each year, Steller conducts a health education program with a focus on HIV/AIDS, human sexuality, healthy relationships, and safety. This program is presented to the sophomore class as a full-day workshop, which features RARE-T peer educators and community guest speakers.

The purpose of this day is to present students with accurate and current information on HIV and AIDS. It includes a presentation from RARE-T about alcohol & drug use as it relates to HIV infection as well as STD/HIV information. Planned Parenthood will present on human anatomy & physiology, healthy relationships, teen sexuality issues, and have a condom demonstration. This year we are fortunate to receive a presentation from STAR regarding sexual assault and prevention.

We feel it is very important that every sophomore attend this event. Parent permission is required to attend this workshop. The students will be excused from their regular classes, if they attend the full day workshop.

Lunch will not be provided. Students will be expected to bring a “brown bag lunch,” and will not be permitted to leave for lunch due to time constraints on the speaker schedule. Hot water will be available on site; however, a microwave oven will not be available, so please plan accordingly. A morning snack and drink will be provided.
