New to Steller 7th Graders

On Tuesday, Jason and Marla will be running the 7th grade orientation. They have several activities planned that will run smoothly if students come prepared for them. There are a few things we need from their families. Please see the list below:

On Tuesday, students will have a choice to bring a lunch and eat at school or go with Jason to see what options are in the area for getting food. Please have your child either bring a lunch or bring $5-15 to buy lunch off campus.

Also on Tuesday, there will be two activities going on in Marla’s and Jason’s rooms. One of these is to create a time capsule. We would like students to bring some artifact that represents 2018 or our current time to put in the time capsule. Students will also be constructing something out of regular arts and crafts materials. If families have any materials they would not mind donating, it would be greatly appreciated. Possible items to send with your student are fabrics of different sizes, designs, materials, cardboard, markers, glue, string or thread, tiles, pieces of wood, push pins, buttons, newspaper, colored paper, or any other crafting type material.

On Wednesday, we would like students to bring their backpacks and school supplies so we can talk about being organized and how to use their space and materials productively. We will go over good habits for middle school students to get into and what makes a successful Steller student. On Wednesday, students will have lunch on their own, so they should come prepared with a lunch or money to buy lunch nearby. This will not be led by a Steller teacher. Thank you, and please contact Marla or Jason with any questions. sanders_marla@asdk12.org collins_jason@asdk12.org
