News from our friends at the Anchorage Waterways Council

Sampling at the creekNo one will argue that summers in Alaska are busy, but there is still plenty happening as fall arrives. By the time you read this, we will already have worked for nearly a week in our “Creeks as Classrooms” program with students from Steller Secondary School who were studying the effects of waterfowl concentrations on Chester Creek and Westchester Lagoon, and had an information table about yard chemicals and invasive plants at the Alaska Botanical Garden’s Harvest Fair on September 6. Three attendees who entered a brief survey on their gardening habits each won an autographed copy of Gardener Jeff Lowenfels’ Teaming with Nutrients. Congratulations to Judy and James and James!
