2009 ASIAN CULTURAL PERFORMANCE

Encourage your child’s teachers to look into this wonderful opportunity to see World Caliber entertainment at a minimum cost. – Harlod

Enhancing the cultural awareness, pride, understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of the rich heritage and contributions ethnic people have made to our community and nation is one of the goals of the English Language Learners Program. This year, as for the last sixteen years, the English Language Learner Program is collaborating with the Asian Alaskan Community in the presentation of its Cultural Festival of Arts.  The Asian Alaskan Community has collectively worked to present a rich celebration of their culture.  Once again they are inviting students from the Anchorage School District to enjoy the festivities.  The presentation will feature performances by local students including Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Thai, Lao and Japanese performers.

The 60-minute performance at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts- Discovery Theater is specifically designed for the Anchorage School District and will appeal to students and staff from kindergarten through grade 12.  Two performances have been scheduled in the 700 seat theater. You can choose the time that bests fits your schedule. It will be on a first come first served basis. Spots will be reserved once the attached form is completed, turned in, and payment is received. Once a show has reached capacity, we will notify schools that the specific time is full. An admission fee of $3.00 per person is charged.
